QC Lab Technician

 

The QC Lab Technician at Jowat is responsible for testing the finished product samples by ISO 90001 methods and in-house procedures. This role involves working with different lab instrumentations including but not limited to viscometers, scales, pH meter, and colorimeter. The position is well-suited for a detail-oriented individual with hands-on experience in laboratory or industrial environments who values accuracy, safety, and procedural discipline. We have an open on our night shift schedule, Thursday to Sunday, 6:00 pm to 6:00 am.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze in-process and final batches.
  • Determine if analysis of materials is within defined specifications.
  • Complete quality batch report
  • Issue nonconformance memos for batches that do not meet specifications.
  • Label nonconforming batches
  • Alert production to out-of-specification material
  • Work with manufacturing and materials personnel to accurately complete QC testing and documentation, determine correct disposition, and apply correct status labeling. Update material disposition status in SAP and Josy as necessary.  
  • Perform routine laboratory maintenance tasks including organization and cleaning of work areas, checking for expired reagents and standards, disposal of product samples, chemicals, and hazardous waste.
  • Be able to use viscometers, scales, calipers, pH meter, bacterial kit, drop point and melt follow

 

Education/Qualifications:

  • Preferred Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in chemistry or a science field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • 2-3 years of experience as a lab technician.
  • Strong knowledge of quality management systems (QMS), including ISO standards and industry best practices.
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools and techniques to identify trends.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex issues.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate effectively with internal teams, customers, and suppliers.
  • Attention to detail and a systematic approach to issue resolution.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
